CA criminalizing sales to minors.

Friday, April 22nd, 2005

no, not miners. they can buy all the games they want. but according to this article, via joystiq, CA Assemblyman Leland Yee is trying to pass a bill to make the sale and rental of M-rated games to minors illegal.

the article states: “Clearly the video game industry is not concerned with the welfare of our children,” California Assemblyman Leland Yee.

Seriously, fuck kids. Games are for adults anyway, not kids. they should all die.
I know it’s going to be announced in a few weeks on MTV, but I’m going to leak the real name of the xbox’s successor. It’s not Xbox 360, or Xbox 2, or NextBox, or any of that hippie crap, it’s the Xbox BabyKiller, and all games are required to include graphic violence involving killing hookers.

Ah, Government - allowing others to shirk responsibility for over 200 years. probably more like 2000.

I stared into a mirror for three days, didn’t eat or sleep

Watch MTV at 9:30pm on Thursday, May 12th.
OR I WILL CUT YOU.
here’s why.

It’s a little unorthodox but we’re planning on showing the premier of the next xbox on MTV the Thursday before E3. I think it’s a good idea, even if it “betrays” hardcore gamers as people have been bitching about on forums. But hey, we need to spread the word to impressionable kids who have (their parents’) money to burn, and that would be the ones who watch “the MTV.”
…now i just have to get to someone’s place who has MTV so I can watch (not that i’ll be all that surprised, but i’d like to see what we’re showing).

halo 2.

Monday, April 18th, 2005

the auto-update goes out today, fixing glitches, cheating, and making some changes to weapons for better balance. among them, grenades are stronger with shorter fuses, pistols don’t auto-aim quite as much, and melee is stronger. Also the ranking system is getting changed a bit to spread out the skill levels so that a one level increase in rank isn’t as great a change as it currently is.
Full list of changes here.

the first two new maps should be released before the end of april, along with new playlists, plus a reset of player stats to take into account all the changes.

Later that day
– and when I said “the end of april” i meant next monday April 25th. The first two map packs are going to be released then. The Bonus Pack (consisting of Warlock and Containment) will be free, and the Killtacular Pack (consisting of Turf and Sanctuary) will be $5.99.

On June 28th the DVD with all 9 maps gets released, and the same day, the Killtacular Pack is made free. I believe the other 5 maps will be released as premium content on this day as well.

Still no date on when those last 5 maps will be made free.

Here are the details

okcupid - haven for bisexuals?

Thursday, April 7th, 2005

i joined ok cupid a while ago when brian told me about their interesting matching algorithm and i wanted to see what it was like. i took a bunch of tests and haven’t done much of anything else with it. but they send these emails with new users and possible matches. and seriously, all of the women on there are bisexual.
for example, in the update i just got listing 10 new female users in my area, 4 of the 8 that loaded were bisexual. reminds me of orkut and the huge amounts of portuguese speaking people on there.

lollapaloooooooza.

Wednesday, April 6th, 2005

almost missed this thanks to the hotmail junk mail filter.
lollapalooza is no longer a tour, or at least this year it’s not.
it’s a 2 day event in chicago - 70+ bands, 5 stages, art, food, and more, all in Grant Park.
i think i want to go, anyone else interested?
i guess i gotta figure out who lives in chicago still and arrange something…
plus, i’d like to know who the bands are going to be before i make a decision that involves me buying a ticket to chicago. but even if it’s not the greatest lineup, chicago still kicks ass, and a weekend in the middle of the summer there would be nice.

let’s dance

i like cartoons. well, really i like animation, hand drawn or computer animated. i especially like it when it’s not used for children’s cartoons. i don’t like all anime, specifically when the animation is low quality or the style is the ridiculous cutesy crap with exaggerated expressions and deformation and characters changing their appearance when they get excited or sad.
I wish more music videos would use animation. one of my favorite videos was pearl jam’s do the evolution because it was animated, (by todd mcfarlane, though i don’t really care so much about that). [actually, come to think of it i also like stop motion animation, like in most of tool's videos] that’s one of the things i really liked about the gorillaz. the concept was a band that existed in animation. their videos were great. i went to see them in concert, and honestly it wasn’t the same. instead of animating a full concert in cartoon and having the “real” band play live music to go along with the video, they just had some random video playing with the live band playing a concert hidden behind some screens. i think the cartoon band thing just breaks down when you try to do it live, since it’s really hard to do.
anyway, they’ve got a new album coming out soon, and the new video is really cool, check it out here: Feel Good, Inc. (it’s in windows media)

and hell, check them all out:
rock it.
tomorrow comes today.
rock the house.
