comment spam
Monday, March 29th, 2004I haven’t actually had any spam in comments, other than random people finding my site and posting stupid crap, but I know that Joann and Irwin have. Mike showed me this MT plugin called MT-Blacklist which is basically a comment filter.
You can set up words to block, and it also downloads a list of URLs to block, so when someone posts a comment, if it hits a match on one of those, the comment will be rejected.
If you do happen to get a bunch of spam, it has a “Search and De-Spam” feature where it will search through your comments and delete any offending spam comments, instead of you having to search through your comments and delete them one by one.
I haven’t set it up on my site, but it seems like a pretty useful tool, so i might get it up and running.
