Matt at snarkmarket has written a few posts about the changes of living in the city vs. the suburbs (most recently here).
Here’s another article along those veins - the population of children in san francisco is the lowest among any major US city. 14.5% of the population in SF is under 18 vs. 24% in NY and 19% in Palm Beach, where everyone is old. And 40% of parents are considering leaving within the next year.
SF is doing what it can to get families to stay, since without the children, you’re not going to have much of a future.
