it seems like every day…

…i open up the new entry form cause it’s been a month since i wrote anything, and even that was of basically no value.
even now i don’t really feel like writing anything, but i also feel i should since i like seeing what my friends are up to and i should return the favor. the thing is a bunch of stuff has happened, but still nothing has really happened.
I went home for christmas for a week, saw some friends, but not all that i wanted to see, a few that i didn’t expect to see. That was fun. New Years I was back in Seattle but i ended up just hanging out with a couple friends instead of doing something more exciting, but oh well.

I went to see Buckcherry a couple weeks ago, with the Jet City Fix and Program the Dead, plus a couple local bands. I of course went by myself since none of my friends like real rock music. It was a really good show, the two opening bands i remember were actually pretty decent - Program the Dead did great covers of Led Zeppelin and the Doors. Buckcherry was cool, and loud as hell. I should have worn earplugs, my ears were ringing for at least 2 days, but it felt good to hear a loud rock n’ roll band, especially in Seattle, the land of indie rock. (Sub Pop records used to have an office 2 blocks from where I live.) One friend keeps trying to convince me that bands like Death Cab for Cutie and Sufjan Stevens “rock” which I find pretty ridiculous. You need more energy and excitement than they put out. They’re good bands, but when you get out of one of their concerts (and i saw Death Cab a few months back) you don’t have the same rush you do when you see Buckcherry or the Foo Fighters, the last couple rock bands I’ve seen.
I saw a few movies: Memoirs of a Geisha was pretty good. Underworld: Evolution was vampires fighting werewolves again, with kate beckinsale in leather again, so you know, good stuff. I actually really liked how the main werewolf looked, I thought they did a really good job with his character design.
I read some good books: The Time Traveller’s Wife is “really great” as my cousin says. A Million Little Pieces is also very good, just ignore the stupid controversy, it doesn’t change the content. Looking For Jake (short stories by China Mieville collected from other publishings) is excellent as well, Mieville writes good and creepy short stories. I’m reading Jonathon Strange and Mr. Norrell right now, also good.
I went out to bars and clubs for a few friends’ birthdays or just for fun, and I have three more birthdays to celebrate this week, 2 are just with dinner, one will be of the clubbing variety.
I watched the superbowl with a bunch of friends (while simultaneously ditching another bunch of friends, we need to somehow combine all superbowl parties into one) and didn’t care much when the Seahawks lost.
I’m watching puppies this week for a friend who’s out of town. I really like the puppies, but it also reminds me of why i don’t have a dog of my own.
That’s about all the excitement in my life.

There are a few movies I want to watch coming out soon:
Ultraviolet looks really cool, especially from a cinematic perspective. The colors in the trailer are really nice looking, and plus it looks like a good futuristic asskicking movie.
A Scanner Darkly also looks very neat due to its visual style. It’s based on a story by Philip K. Dick (Total Recall, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep - a.k.a. Blade Runner, Minority Report) about a future where everyone is watched by the government and people you know might be undercover gov’t agents in the war on drugs, apparently based on Dick’s own drug experiences. They filmed the actors and then animated on top of everything, ending u with a very cool effect.
V for Vendetta looks fantastic.

And It has now been a week since i started writing this post, i guess i should publish it or it’ll just sit here forever.

it’s time to get down
