other things i like about 360.
while i’m at it:
Sharing music from my PC over Windows Media Connect is awesome. I’ve got 25 gigs of my own music on my PC in my bedroom, and I can play it all in my living room without any annoying cables running along the walls. I’m doing this right now, or having a PC next to my TV.
Geometry Wars - also awesome. $5 400 Microsoft Points are never better spent.
Custom Soundtracks - in a game where you have already fully experienced the music as it should be and are now interested in hearing your own stuff, of course - is a great feature.
and being able to combine all three of those makes playing geometry wars a lot more enjoyable. The cheesy techno music included with the game isn’t bad, but it loops ever 30 seconds or so, and being able to replace it with whatever I want is an excellent thing.

Nice catch there re: custom soundtracks :) So far I’ve seen it most useful when as you say, a friend is playing a Live Arcade title and tired of the music. Plus it’s less work for the audio team, which we noted on MxO — you can never make enough music for a game where players are in for 40hrs/wk.
I still understand the concerns audio professionals have, but as a supplement I think it’s fine.

It’s also good for racing games, if you don’t like the default music. not to mention any EA game with “EA Trax.”
I haven’t yet used it with any non-arcade games, but i suspect I will once I’ve played enough of a game, or i’m just playing online and want a little ambient music, but it just doens’t seem right to be fighting Nazis while listening to Nine Inch Nails. Maybe if they were demon nazis…
