IM Smarter.
another reason the internet is cool.
I saw this on slashdot linking to an engadget interview with the creator of IM Smarter, which is pretty neat.
It’s kind of an extension to IM clients which does a few things:
Log converstaions with buddies
Create blog entries from the IM client (currently only works with their service, Live Journal, or Xanga, but they’re working on others)
Send you reminders for things
the neat thing is, you don’t install anything, you just route your traffic through their Proxy server and it grabs copies of what you send, plus it intercepts certain commands ([secret] which wipes the last 4 hours of converstaion with a buddy, or [showlogs] which will send you a link to all logs for a buddy). You can tell the service “blog” and it will take a subject as the first IM and then the actual blog entry from the following IMs, or you can say “remind me in 4 hours to turn off the oven” and in 4 hours it’ll tell you to turn off the oven.
I don’t know exactly how useful it is, but it’s a neat idea. I’m gonna play with it for a while and see if i have any practical use for it…
