Every day i wake up and i ask myself, “how can i make myself more geeky today?”

Friday, I increased it by joining the World of Warcraft stress test / open beta, and then playing until really late on saturday (after getting back from a club) and sunday nights. It’s the first mmorpg i’ve played for more than a brief period, and the reason I’ve played it for more than that is that it’s actually pretty fun. I played a few other betas and they were ok, but nothing i would consider paying for. WOW is good enough that I might actually buy it, but we’ll have to see, i’ve got something else that will be needing my attention…

Today I will be more geeky by going to the midnight sale for Halo 2 at EBGames in redmond town center. I’ll be sure to take pictures of the other dorky people there; there should be over 500, probably a lot more than that. Apparently they got 1300 preorders at the RTC EBGames store. I’m rather excited about it. not so much the midnight thing, just the game.

Bungie is awesome:
Just added to www.bungie.net are the new stats for Halo 2, which includes a LOT more than you’d typically expect from an online stats page for a videogame.
For each game played, you can see:
Kill Stats: Kills, Assists, Deaths, Suicides
Game Specific Stats: Bomb Grabs, Bomb kills, Flag steals, Flag scores, etc
Hits: shots hit, shots fired, hit %, head shots
Player vs. Player: stats between specific players (X most killed by Y, etc)
Medals: you get medals for things like double-kill, triple-kill, sniping, headshots, melee kill, etc.
So that’s all really cool, lots of stats for every game played.

But what’s even crazier is they have Game Viewer. For every game, you can see the location of every kill in the game, and if you pick a player in the game, you can see the trajectory of the kill, ie. where the killer was, and where the victim was. They’ve taken images from every map in the game, taken from various angles that will together show all areas in the map. Then they plot all the player interactions in the maps. It’s a really cool feature, and if you want to know how you died and where the shot came from, you can figure out who killed you, where they were, and what weapon they were using. That’s pretty amazing, yay bungie.net team.

In other news, the mean people were out and about on the weekend. At See Sound lounge, one guy almost got in a fight with two other guys who were apparently talking shit about him for no good reason. And then in the elevator, there was a guy who looked a lot like someone i worked with, so i was kinda looking at him to see if it was him, and he got really pissed off. Chris tried to calm him down and the guy said something random and called him a bitch.

Sunday I went to watch the Incredibles (which was great), and in line waiting for tickets I didn’t move to the window immediately after the person ahead of me was done, and the guy behind us in line said “Do you want to move?!” Sorry buddy, i guess that 5 second delay really affected your life

The Incredibles was really good and much much better than i thought it would be. I was really hesitant to watch it, the previews made it look bad, but it was good, i liked it a lot.
