wedding, birthday, voice.
went back to michigan for lena and nick’s wedding. it was really nice, minus the weather which was a bit rainy. the ceremony was non-religious but still very nice, basically take a normal religious ceremony, remove all mentioning of god or jesus, and make it about 20 minutes long. i encourage more weddings to be like that. of course, taking pictures took about 90 minutes, but i guess that made up for the short ceremony. the reception was good too, tasty food and of course, wedding music. i hope i don’t have to play the same music that gets played at every other wedding whenever I get married. i want real music, not YMCA, Grease, line dancing, etc. ah well, i’m sure whenever it happens, i’ll just leave it up to the girl. i did like when the wedding party came into the reception to Sweet Child O’ Mine.
The other good thing about the wedding was that basically everyone from the group of friends we had back at U-M were there, so i got to see people I hadn’t seen in years, some of them not since we graduated. that was really cool, i wish we could have hung out more, but at least I got to see them. also it was nice hanging out with a decent number of girls (cute ones at that), since that tends to be a rare occurance in the world of MS.
Tonight was Kathy’s birthday party, which was surprisingly an actual surprise. usually the “surprise” dinners we have for people consist of someone saying “we should go out to eat at ______”, and then everyone is there waiting. if it happened once it might actually be a surprise, but it seems like every single birthday does the same thing. at some point you just have to say, “hey, we’re all going to go out for your dinner.” no surprises. anyway, tyler managed to trick kathy into thinking she was having a dinner thing tomorrow night, but it was actually tonight, and everyone showed up basically on time. there was a shit-ton of food though, way more than was needed. i learned that costco sells hotdogs in packs of 42. 42! is that really necessary? i mean, you can’t even match that up with the normal 8 buns (or 24 at costco) that you get, without getting 4 packs of hot dogs and 7 packs of buns. and then you’ve got 168 hot dogs and buns…
as for my voice, i’ve had this sore throat thing going on the last couple days. it doesn’t hurt too much anymore, but today i basically sounded like i was smoking pot all day, cause my throat was kinda congested. and now after the party, when i was talking all night, i’ve effectively lost my voice, except for in a really low or really high pitched voice. so.. i’ll be whispering a lot tomorrow; hopefully i won’t have to talk much.
well, i’m off.

I loved your hotdog math in this entry, Kevin. You should do a whole blog of hotdog-related multiplication and factoring problems.
