darko. haircut… games. housecat.
last night i went to watch donnie darko: director’s cut. it wasn’t too different, they added about 20 minutes to the movie, a lot of it taking the form of showing the first page in each chapter form the book (the philosophy of time travel) which relates to what’s happening, plus some stuff having to do with watership down. I don’t know that it necessarily made it a better movie, but it didn’t make it any worse. the acting in the movie is really believable, the family really acts like a family, drew barrymoore is cool, and patrick swayze’s character is great. jake gyllenhaal is a really cool actor, and is plays a weird crazy kid really well.
today i went to get a fancy-ass haircut at the gene juarez training salon. i’d never been to a salon before, and it was kind of a strange experience. they give you this stupid robe to put on, and take you over to look at your hair, then you get a shampoo (which i’ve never done before.. a little odd), then you go back to the chair, then they cut it for a while, then wash out the hair, then back to the chair to do some more stuff.
of course, most of the girls there are pretty good looking, but i ended up with the 40 year old vietnamese lady. at least i didn’t get a guy, but still… anyway, i’m not sure that it was worth $30, but we’ll see. i need to get used to it. generally i just get the shitty $12 haircut.
played boardgames at clay’s for a while, then headed to chop suey to meet jeff and another guy whose name i forgot, to see felix da housecat. he missed his plane, or it was late, or something like that, so he didn’t show up until 1am, but the club stayed open until 3:00 to let him play a full set, which was nice of them.
happy cuatro de julio.
i’ve got this problem where i got this fancy haircut but i don’t know how do anything with my hair to not make it look the same as before. they’re all “this is how you apply the product” [i hate how everything is called product now. thanks queer eye] and then they do some magical something or other. i think i need a them to give me training to figure out what the hell to do.

try pomade instead of gel… gel == sticky, pomade == less sticky

well, i bought some stuff that’s supposed to make hair less frizzy and do other magic, but i’m not sure what i’m supposed to do to make it work. sunday i managed to do something and ended up with something i liked, but monday i ended up wearing a hat most of the day, and today it looked pretty much the same as it did last week, except shorter.
