kmfdm. anti-bada. riddick.

damn it. typed something out, then i lost it. now must retype.

i went to see kmfdm at the fenix friday night. it was a pretty good show, and my ears are still ringing. but i think that’s from the… “band” before them. black.japan sucks, it was basically loud painful awful noise with the occasional car honking sound for about 10 minutes, and then we went downstairs because they just didn’t stop. they were pretty shitty in the opinions of me, jim, jen, and the other people whose names i’ve forgotten. we went back up 15 minutes later and they were still playing crap, so we went back down. then they ended and all was well.
KMFDM was cool though. they are 2 guitarists (one was actually pretty good, the other i don’t know, he was on the other end of the stage), a drummer, the lead singer who’s got a 6 inch bleached mohawk, and another singer, a pretty good lookin’ girl named Lucia. oh and some electronic machines of some kind. They played all their biggest hits like… well really i don’t know any of their songs, but it was good, loud, german industrial music. conducive to a lot of moshing incidentally. luckily we were just outside the range of that bullshit, so we were ok. I did get yelled at by this huge black guy cause i was making fun of black.japan. i have no idea who this guy was or why he was pissed, he just told me to stop it, and well, i’m genrally gonna listen to a big guy that’s pissed at me.

tonight i hung out with jeff and robert, we hit this club near green lake, at 65th and roosevelt, then headed to the sea sound lounge (c sound lounge?), and afterwards to bada lounge.
the See Sound lounge (as it’s called, thanks google) is best described as anti-bada. it’s the same basic setup, bar, lounge, video wall with visualizer playing, except the crowd is an inverse of bada. where bada is about mostly asian, see sound is mostly white. pretty good place, jeff knows lots of people. oh, see soudn has the no cover charge thing going for them. bada was cool too. they were playing Tron on the big video wall thing. that was cool except at one point we realized that we were at a bar, on a saturday night, watching tron and not talking at all. no, i’m not a geek, seriously. anyway, we hung out there for a while, then headed to jeff’s where i got my ass handed to me repeatedly by robert at soul calibur 2. but i don’t feel so bad, he’s done SC2 tournaments. and won them.
As i was heading into seattle, a cop pulled over the car 2 cars behind me, which was rather frightening. not that i was speeding (maybe 5 over), but still, i just looked in my mirror and saw lights, but then they pulled off to the side. i hate how seeing police lights automatically makes you feel as if you’ve done something wrong, even if you haven’t done a thing.

Oh yeah, Jeff said he saw black.japan (or blk jpn as they were known when he saw them) a while back, and they were awful then. and, he met one of the guys in the “band” and told them that it was just loud noise and not music, and they guy said “yeah, that’s what we’re going for!” like he was proud. i guess his mom told him it was good, i don’t know.

earlier today i beat riddick. i’m glad i just rented it. I don’t think it’s really worth $50, even though it’s a good game. it probably only took me 7 hours or so to beat, which is a little short for a $50 game. However, that was a good length because i think any more and I might have gotten bored. 7 hours was just about right. kinda like prince of persia; too much longer and it would have gotten old, because the game play wasn’t that deep. but i sure did like flipping around like crazy. now Beyond Good & Evil, that was really short (maybe 5 hours?) and that should have been a lot longer. it was essentially an old school style adventure game like monkey island, plus really good non-adventure gameplay: a little fighting, but done well, and the cool picture taking mini-game to get money and items and unlock stuff, and a hovercraft racing mini-game. and of course, it sold like crap, so they probably won’t make a sequel, even though that’s definitely a game that deserves a sequel.

ok, it’s late, i’m off to bed.

Clutch it like a cornerstone. Otherwise it all comes down.

So were they black? or japanese?

  2. iamkevin. Says:

they were in fact neither black nor japanese. so, not only did they suck, but it was false advertising.
did i mention they suck? cause they do.

  3. Jason Says:

Damnit i don’t like you. I went to KMFDM on thursday and damnit, they fuckin kicked ass. And they aren’t german Industrial, They are Gothic Industrial

  4. iamkevin. Says:

First off, who are you, and why don’t you like me?
I thought KMFDM was really good too, and never said they weren’t. I’ll probably go see them again the next time they’re here.
And seeing as they are German, and they are Industrial (gothic or otherwise) I think i’m ok in saying they’re German Industrial.

Black Japan is shit though, i stand by that.

Also, why the hell are you commenting on something from June 2004 anyway? no one is going to read your comment, except me. (and really, i should ask myself the same question, since you’re never going to see this either.)
