team ninja is cool. riddick ost.

even if you don’t care about games, what Tecmo and Team Ninja are doing with ninja gaiden is pretty impressive. In August, they’re going to release Ninja Gaiden 1.1, which is a huge update to ninja gaiden.
IGN has the details, but the overview is:
The game itself won’t change, but the content in it will, so there will be
New Enemies - they’ll replace some existing enemies and replace them with new monsters to fight.
New Bosses - same, but with bosses
New Weapons - adding 3 new weapons, among them a bo staff.
Improved AI - making a hard game even harder
New Camera - this is significant, they’re replacing the camera system with a new camera that gives you more control. NG has a frustrating camera to use at the moment.
Action Engine - They’re updating the game engine to make everything faster. I think it’s faster in terms of time, since the engine already runs very smoothly with no slowdown that i can remember.

That’s a big update, and it’s all going to be free as long as you have xbox Live (and the game of course). That is really good developer support.

Meanwhile, Vivendi Universal has released the soundtrack to Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay (that’s the xbox game, not the movie). It’s pretty decent actually, you can get it from vugames.com
I also rented riddick last night, and I think i’m about a little under 1/3 of the way through. I like it so far. good graphics (riddick really looks like vin diesel), a decent story so far, and good voice acting with lots of big names (vin diesel of course, and cole hauser, and the coolest guy ever, Ron Perlman. Oh and Xzibit! right..) [i think it's funny and yet also cool that IMDB lists video games]
it really comes off as another chapter in the series, the “acting” is convincing, as is the storyline (except for the way he got his eyes’ “shine job”, i didn’t like that so much). Escape from Butcher Bay is a prequel to Pitch Black, telling how he ended up where he did.
I might pick up Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury, an anime directed by Peter Chung (Æon Flux, Matriculated from the Animatrix), which falls in between Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddick (the movie).

and in other news, bunny!

i’m making miracles like jesus

Rob Perlman is the coolest guy ever? Awww, man… I thought I had a good shot at that title.

oooh, yeah, sorry, that spot’s been filled.
if you like, lamest guy ever is still open.
In fact, i’ll just give that one to you right now.

  3. Anonymous Says:

“The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury” occurs right after Pitch black. The kid and the Muslim are with him.

  4. iamkevin. Says:

Right. that’s exactly what i said: “…which falls in between Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddick (the movie).”
also, no one is going to read this but me.

  5. Maus Says:

that’s right;Pitch Black (very good) goes first, then Dark Fury (not very good) and then the chronicles of Riddick…Very good either.

But Dark fury is an anime, therefore you miss vin diesel…

(1 year later, someone read my post…)
In Dark Fury you do get Vin Diesel’s voice acting, but not him in person.
Escape from Butcher Bay is the prequel to Pitch Black.
